Current diagnosis of ear infection relies on visual inspection of the eardrum, which is performed using a device called the otoscope, which gives very little quantitative information about the health of the ear. EarID overcomes these challenges by integrating the conventional otoscope with a spectrometer and a structured illumination system, providing quantitative optical and anatomical information about the eardrum.
